“I am a seasoned traveler who has travelled to over 40 countries, stayed between hostals to 5 stars hotels but never have i experienced such awful hospitality. It has got to be my worst hotel experience ever. The first 3 nights are booked on expedia and it was borderline ok. I noticed that certain races/nationality are given preferential treatment perhaps due to the notion that these customers are more likely to tip generously, they are often being greeted warmly and enthusiastically offered help with their luggages whereas asians like us are being discriminated. The hotel breakfast was super boring, everyday it was the exact same menu, by the time it got to the 4th day, i just couldnt have it. We rather go to the nearby markets. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to extend our stay in Cusco for another 3 nights, despite being unhappy with the race discrimination and breakfast, we still chose to extend with Casa Andina as we felt it was too much of a hassle to find a new hotel. We then paid the hotel immediately at the rate of $75 USD/night. That is when the true terror begins. The 5th day, when we returned from an outing, a male receptionist with glasses approached us furiously and accused us of cheating them infront of all the hotel guests at the lobby. It was really interesting that we made payment directly at the receiption with a credit card and that they made a mistake charging us in soles rather than usd$ but instead of apologizing for the inconvenience they have caused us, they can turn around and accuse my friend and i of cheating them. We honestly did not realized that we were being undercharged and immediately paid the difference but since then, they treated us indifferently as if we were freeloaders at the hotel. Our rooms were not cleaned properly, when the toilet papers were empty, it was not replenished. At the lobby we were given weird stares by the receptionists, doorman and porter. They treated us as if we didnt exists. On the last day, we were charged 15 soles for a 4 minute local call. We just couldnt wait to get the hell out of Casa Andina, we checked out the 1st thing in the morning even though our flight is at a much later time. I would have given this hotel 0 star if i could. This is truly the most disgustingly unprofessional, racists hotel i ever stayed in”

“The bilingual staff was very nice and welcoming. There is no elevator and they were very nice to take our luggage upstairs to our room. We were somewhat oxygen deprived and it was great not to have to carry the luggage upstairs. The hotel has oxygen and a 24/7 supply of mate de coca tea which is very helpful with the breathlessness that comes with the high altitude. We asked for a wake up call which they forgot to do but, thankfully, we used the alarm on one of our phones and did not miss our ride to the train station for our trip to Machu Picchu! Our window shade broke and they never repaired it, but we were hardly ever there so it was not that great of a hardship. Our toilet overflowed one morning and they were there in a flash to repair it. They have a breakfast buffet which is nice. The hotel is right near the town square and an easy walk. Coffee in all of Peru is not that great, considering they grow a great deal of the world’s coffee, but there is a Starbucks around the corner from the hotel.”
